30 Years of Accomplishment to be
Celebrated at Annual Meeting

Generous Donors from 2001 Continue Support

PHRA will be celebrating its 30th anniversary when members gather Oct. 24 for our annual meeting - and there's a lot to celebrate.

PHRA President Greg Scott will cover some of the major accomplishments over the the three decades, including the issues that spurred Pacific Heights residents to organized in 1972.

He will also touch on some current hot topics in our neighborhood.  Among them are the rebuilding plans of the California Pacific Medical Center, the traffic mess resulting from the building/remodeling boom throughout Pacific Heights, and an ongoing struggle to retain parking in the face of Muni's bus zone expansions.

Widely read San Francisco Chronicle columnists Phil Matier and Andy Ross will talk about some of the hot topics and how they always seem to have the inside news first and often exclusively.

The event will begin at 6 p.m.. with a wine reception at the Schools of the Sacred Heart at 2222 Broadway, between Fillmore and Webster Streets.  Wine is provided once again by Mike Temple of Vino, Inc., 2425 California Street at Fillmore, (415) 674-VINO.

During the reception there will be a number of displays.  One will show the zoning of Pacific Heights before and after 1972.  Information tables will be staffed by many organizations such as San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, San Francisco Beautiful, The New Fillmore, SNAFU, FUF, San Francisco Heritage, and the Victorian Alliance. Candidates for District 2 Supervisors will be circulating, as will local fire and police captains.

Buffet dinner will be served by Giovanni's Caterers.  Flowers have been generously donated by Mike Castle of The Flower Shop of San Francisco, 2864 California Street at Broderick, (415) 921-5084.

The brief business session will include a treasurer's report and election of PHRA Directors.

Our 30th anniversary celebration will be topped off with truffles, compliments of Joseph Schmidt Confections.
