Pacific Avenue Residents
Fight Construction Mess

As one Pacific Avenue resident said, "My block has become a construction nightmare. There has already been one accident this week."

The block in question is the former Grant School site. Houses are being built simultaneously on both the Pacific Avenue and Broadway sides. Pacific in particular is often impassable.

So far, the Department of Parking and Traffic has not been much help and has not responded to many telephone calls from the neighborhood. One neighbor flagged down a meter maid and asked her to ticket the double parked vehicles. She refused.

To remedy the situation, PHRA Director Alan Malouf invited DPT, developers, a representative of Gavin Newsom’s office and any other people interested to meet with him Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. at 2959 Pacific Avenue to work on a solution.
